Instagram is another social media platform where you can do an online ZYIA ACTIVE party!

An Instagram party is done in a private group message. 

As of summer 2019, Instagram now allows up to 100 people in a group message!

Guests will get a guaranteed notification of an unread message right on their home screen.

One thing to note with Instagram parties is that the party guests will have to scroll through the group message to see all posts. That's why it's important when sharing the product to post it in a COLLAGE to limit the number of posts you send to avoid guests getting lost in scrolling, feeling spammy and missing posts. 

Be selective and concise with posts.

PARTY DURATION: I like to have a specific day set for the "party" where I post all the product collages. Then at least 3 days prior to the event, I create the group message for the host to add her guests to it. In those days, I do a few "pre-party" posts to welcome, explain the party and get some engagement. This preps them days before the party to expect the actual party day and is an ice breaker. 

Videos are still an important part of an Instagram party. Traditional LIVE videos are currently not an option in a private group message, however, you can pre-record 1 min videos to your camera roll and upload those to your party! Instagram also now offers video chat in group messages, so if you set a specific time you are going to do the video chat, your guests can all hop on live chat with you.

Step one: coach your hostess

It is crucial to coach your party host before the party! They must personally invite their guests before the party and not just add people to the group message. Added guests without permission are more likely to be a "party dud" with no interaction. This event is exclusive and fun, so we want to make sure our hosts guests feel like VIP! Personal invites can be done via private messages, text, call, email or in person.They can also post to their personal page to see who else might want an invite.

Educate your host on personally inviting guests & to make sure they participate in the party because their guests know and trust them and are more likely to participate if the host is participating. 

Host personal message invite example:

"Hi (name)! I'm hosting a live instagram Zyia Active party on (date) in a group message. I just discovered Zyia Activewear and I'm so excited about their workout clothes and if you want good quality gear - please check it out. I'm talking Lululemon quality at a fraction of the price!! You will LOVE it too I just know it. Even if you can't join the live party, you can browse the catalog - there is zero pressure! 

If you can make the instagram party it will be interactive and super fun, plus there will be an awesome GIVEAWAY! Do you want me to add you? I won't add you or be offended if it's not your thing! Just let me know either way!"

Step two: set up your group message

You can add more people to group conversations that already include 3 or more people. Instagram now allows up to 100 people to be added to a group message.

To add people to a group conversation in Instagram Direct:

1. Tap the message icon in the top right of Feed (iPhone) or bottom right (Android).
2. Tap the conversation you'd like to add people to.
3. Tap the group name at the top.
4. Tap Add People next to Members.
5. Search for and select people you'd like to add, and then tap Next (iPhone) or Done (Android).

Start out by welcoming your guests, introducing yourself, explain how the party works and ask a question to get engagement and be your first party icebreaker.

There are several ways to run giveaways, so find one that works for you with your style and budget! Whether it's for a gift card or a specific item. I personally like to giveaway a specific item because I've found that usually guests will wait to order until they know if they won a gift card or not.
