Welcome Back!

Dear Sunrise New and Returning Families,

Welcome to Sunrise for the 2023 2024 school year!  I hope you had a restful and play-full summer and that your children are ready and eager to resume their Waldorf Education here at Sunrise.  The Faculty have been busy preparing to warmly receive your children and planning for a rich year supporting their learning and development.  Faculty is digging in to all the ways to strengthen enrichment and collaboration across the grades. It has been inspiring to see their ideas and enthusiasm for what they want to integrate this year! Renewed opportunities for students this year include regular woodwork in the upper grades, eurythmy in the lower grades and of course handwork through all the grades. After school there are additional music opportunities through SunStrings Orchestra and Choir, as well as other extra curricular options – stay tuned in our newsletters for announcements and details.

Thank you for your ongoing support and belonging here in the Sunrise community, your families are all valued here.  I look forward to the ongoing growth of the school through working to ensure strong foundational Waldorf principles are supported and enlivened. Most of all, I am excited to see the fresh faces of the students as they return next week! Enjoy the long weekend and see you soon.

Warmly, Ms. Rae

Student Safety and the Parking Lot Etiquette

  • Please drive at or below the school zone speed limit when approaching or departing the school, this is 30km/hr on Lakeside Rd.

  • Please note that the Speed Limit in the parking lot is 5km/hr – if everyone could look at their speedometer to check, it is basically driving at a crawl.

  • Vehicles are expected to stop for people crossing and pedestrians are asked to cross in a straight line across roadways and never diagonally across the parking lot.

  • Drivers please do no park in the drop off lane, drive to the farthest point at the front of the lane so cars can pull in behind you, and then you child can hop out.  Drivers are not meant to exit their vehicle for any more time than a quick hug in either drop off lane, there are 2: one in front of the school and the other facing Lakeside – see signage.

  • Please park in the direction of the flow of traffic if you are parking on the street.

Dress Code at Sunrise Waldorf School

This is a reminder for parents that we will be upholding the current dress code this year. The purpose of the dress code is safety, freedom of movement and promoting a study environment. It can be found on the website here.

Lead teachers in the lower grades will connect with the parents directly if a child comes to school wearing clothes that do not meet the Dress Code. For higher grades, lead teachers will address inappropriate clothing directly with the student.

Parent & Child

This wonderful program is for parents and caregivers with children aged 4 and under, and offers parent enrichment and education, as well as knowledge of child development. There will be songs, stories, seasonal activities and sharing nourishing food together.

The program will run Saturday mornings 10am - 12:30pm, September 16 to November 18 inclusive, in the Shining Star Kindergarten room of Sunrise Waldorf School.

Cost of the program is a sliding scale of $300 - $350 for the full 10 sessions. $50 secures your spot. Please find a registration form linked to the button below. Email Katherine for further information or for a paper copy. Space is limited so please apply now.
