SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS: CO-CHAIR NEEDED Trusting in God and the vaccines, we are expecting to have a full Spirit of Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 10, 2022 with NCPC again taking a major role along with the City of New Castle and the New Castle Historical Society. For 2022, we want to start early and in an orderly fashion to get our plans, houses, sales, refreshments, music and theater events, and Santas in line. We are looking for a special volunteer to serve as co-organizer with Steve Martin, who worked on it last year. Please consider if you would want to take a leadership role in this. It is a wonderful community service of the Church, and, for the organizers, it is a great way to learn more about the City. If you are interested, please speak to Pastor Miriam. If you want to know more about what may be involved, email Steve (martin@udel.edu) or call him at 302-354-4428. |

A CHILD NEEDS YOU! Our mentoring program with local schools was put on hold during the pandemic, but we're gearing up to get started again this fall. Creative Mentoring provides the needed training for you to make a difference in a child's life. Mentoring involves only half an hour to an hour once a week with a child who may be in need of only a caring adult to listen, play games, talk to or help with school work or organizational skills. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, email Candy Dunson. If we have 3 or more new mentors, we can arrange for the training to be done as a group at our church this fall. |

HIGHMARK WALK FOR FRIENDSHIP HOUSE Highmark did it! For the 2022 Highmark Walk, they raised $76,420 and had 545 registered walkers. We helped them by raising $290! Great work everyone! There were 20 teams that hit the $2,000/20 Walk Goal. This is the most teams they've ever had hit the goal. |

Virtual Journey to Guatemala: “The New Face of Mission” Wednesday, August 24, 2022 - 7:30pm What is the “New Face of Mission” in a world still reeling from colonialism? Join CEDEPCA for the next Virtual Journey to Guatemala where we will talk about what makes for healthy cross-cultural relationships. If you lead mission trips or ever plan to, this Virtual Journey is for you. We will use the new book, Freeing Congregational Mission: A Practical Vision for Companionship, Cultural Humility, and Co-Development, as the focal point in our conversation.
The book’s co-authors Hunter Farrell and Bala Khyllep are professors and directors of the World Mission Initiative at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. We are excited that both authors will be present to guide us on this Virtual Journey. Participants are encouraged to read the book beforehand for a richer experience.
Pre-registration is required here.
To buy the book, please visit here. If you buy the book at IVP, use discount code: MISSION for a 30% discount + free shipping in the USA. A purchase of more than 10 books receives a 40% discount (no code needed)
