Celebrating our Volunteers

Did you know that April 24-30 is National Volunteer Week? This special week allows us to celebrate our incredible volunteers and the impact they have had on Sending Sunshine and seniors living in Canada. To date we have had almost 10,000 individuals sign up to be volunteer card writers. These amazing people from around the world have sent us heartfelt cards that are delivered to seniors from coast to coast. We also have over 40 volunteers who help run Sending Sunshine, from tasks such as outreach to care facilities, card sorting, social media, and merchandise design. One thing is certain: Sending Sunshine is lucky to have a group of such dedicated, hardworking, and kindhearted volunteers on our team! 

To celebrate these incredible volunteers, we will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation event on April 30, 2022 at 7pm EST. The link to register for the event can be found here. As well, if you would like to be featured in our year end video that will be showcased at the event, please send us your card making photos or videos by April 29. We hope to see you there!

Did you Hear the News?

Sending Sunshine reached a HUGE milestone this month. We have officially received over 100,000 cards! We are incredibly grateful for the support of people from all 10 Canadian provinces, 2 Canadian Territories, 33 US States, and 13 other countries who helped us attain this milestone. Our work would not be possible without YOUR support!

A Growing Team

As Sending Sunshine continues to grow, we are excited to announce that we have added two new Directors to the Sending Sunshine team! Joining Marissa (Executive Director), Tracy (Marketing Director), and Emily (Events Director) are Michelle and Autumn. Michelle is our External Relations Director and has been helping to secure grants and sponsorships, as well as liaising with our Media Coordinators, among other tasks. Autumn has joined as our Chapter Director, and has been running our entire Chapter initiative!  We are looking forward to their continued leadership at Sending Sunshine!

Drop-off Times This Spring

This spring we will be hosting drop-off times at Mississauga Valley Community Centre on the following days: 

May 14 - 10:00 to 11:30 am

May 18 - 6:00 to 7:30 pm

May 28 - 10:00 to 11:30 am

June 1 - 6:00 to 7:30 pm

June 4 - 10:00 to 11:30 am

If you are a student graduating this June or you don't want to mail in your cards, feel free to stop by!
