May Full Moon Yoga: Hare Moon

Check out below for this month's Full Moon yoga class and information.

This months power flow is fully creating energy; propagation. intuition, contact with supernatural beings. Strengthen connection with protectors and beings around you. Power comes from the trees and Earth below us.

On May 19-28, the Greeks and Romans celebrated two festivals: the Kallyntaria and the Plynteria. This was a ceremony of Spring cleaning and purification which extended all the way from temples to individual homes.

This is a time for grounding and centering. This is a time for repairing, replanting, reorganizing. We can use this time to reorganize the spaces around us. This cleaning followed by a purification of yourself and your home, is an excellent preparation for any ritual you may want to do.

Monthly Recipe: Violets

This month is the month of life; we start to see everything growing and green. One of the most overlooked plants is the violet. These delicate flowers are edible and can be used in salads and other dishes. Below you will find a quick and easy recipe.

Violet Simple Syrup:

1 cup Violets

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

Remove any green parts from your violets, put violets in a heat proof, non-reactive container such as a glass canning jar or stainless steel food storage container. DO NOT use plastic or aluminum.

Bring the cup of water to a boil, pour the hot water over the violet petals (some let the water cool for 10-20min). Cover and let sit at room temperature for 24 hours.  Strain the petals from the liquid after 24 hours, place violet infusion into a double boiler. Add sugar ( if you use anything but white sugar you will lose the blue color in the liquid), cook the syrup over the steam until the sugar is completely dissolved, stirring often. Let syrup cool to room temperature and transfer to a glass storage container. Use this syrup in homemade lemonade, snacks and other treats.
