Guest safety is our number 1 concern.
March 23, 2020
As concerns over the COVID-19 virus situation continue to evolve and develop, we want to let you know how Good Knights is addressing this issue. We have been carefully monitoring the situation and information from Alberta Health, Health Canada, and the World Health Organization (WHO). We are also getting advice from the various tourism agencies – such as Travel Albert and Tourism Calgary.
We take this situation very seriously, but are also confident at this point that, unless things change in the Province very dramatically for the worse, we will be able to open and operate for the 2020 season as planned – with some modifications such as those noted below. Again, we note that this is a rapidly evolving situation, and no one can predict what the situation will be like in 6-8 weeks from now. We support the precautionary steps taken by our federal, provincial, and municipal governments to control the spread of this outbreak.
We at Good Knights have developed a COVID-19 mitigation plan and we are implementing this in stages. For now we are in the process of communication with our customers, staff, and our subscribers on what we plan to do. We anticipate that by mid- to late-May (2 months from now) that we will be passed the worst of this situation and well on the way to recovery.
The health and well-being of our guests is paramount to us. We will be developing detailed operating procedures that we may have to put in place once we open that will help protect our guests and staff from the risk of contagions.
This may include such things as
- lowering the number of people (and increasing the spacing) at our medieval feasts,
- the use of single-use dishes,
- and mandatory hand sanitation before meals and activities – such as archery.
We are researching what we will have to do to cleanse and adequately sanitize our facilities and accommodations to protect our guests and staff. Implementing these measures will take extra time, so we may have to adjust our check-in and check-out times to accommodate this.
Please rest assured that we want you to come and have a fun, but safe, time at Good Knights this summer. At this point we are not planning on shortening our season (by way of a delayed opening date), but this is one thing that may change in the next few weeks – depending on how well the containment measures that the government agencies are putting into force.
Please feel free to write or call us if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you, and stay well.
