As the summer approaches, we are eager to share our continual progress. Each new day brings more exciting updates! |

Within the last month, we gave a full presentation to the City of Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) as part of our regular status updates, keeping the community informed in every step of our project. During the presentation, we discussed project modifications, leasing updates, and overall construction progress. MWSBE Participation and the CBA Art Collaborative were also discussed in our presentation, as we informed the CRA of our contracting methods, brand logo contest and our collaboration with metal welder, Ian Gallo. |

At the end of January, we utilized social media by asking our neighbors in the community what type of business they desired to see in, what we call internally, Unit 1307. Within a few days, we received many requests including, vegan, brunch, sushi, confectionery, soul food, and latin options. Last month we teamed up with the Department of Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) at Florida State University (FSU). IAD students were tasked with creating food and beverage concepts inspired by the ideas given in the January social media post. On April 20th, we stopped by the department to interact with the students and review each of their concepts. Overall, the students produced superior work with an overflow of creativity and attention to detail! We are excited to see how their ideas inspire the final concept for Unit 1307. |

Our recent groundbreaking ceremony was a success! The ceremony received quite a lot of attention from neighbors and businesses in the area. Officials from all three local chambers, Tallahassee Leon County Office of Economic Vitality and Community Redevelopment Agency were present at the groundbreaking ceremony, showing their support for the project. We were also honored to have City Commissioner Curtis Richardson and County Commissioner Bill Proctor in attendance. You can watch our recap by clicking on the video above. We appreciate everyone that came out to participate in this exciting milestone for SoMo Walls! |

Following the announcement of the Walls Art Collaborative, over thirteen artists and creatives have contacted us with an interest in collaboration. In the next two months, we will discuss mural ideas with each potential artist to establish plans for the walls displayed throughout our development. As we form a line-up of creative and passionate individuals, it is evident that the artistic vision for SoMo Walls is starting to come to life! |

Big news is on the horizon! Next month, we will be announcing at least one (and possibly two) tenants of SoMo Walls. The largest space within SoMo Walls will be home to a hospitality/food and beverage business. The project team is finalizing details for this space in preparation for this much anticipated announcement! With the start of construction comes new and exciting changes. As the weeks go by, we can expect to see the formation of sidewalks and landscaping in the area. The construction of the art walls will also begin shortly. To stay up to date on everything SoMo Walls, be sure to join our mailing list and follow us on social media! |
