September E-Newsletter

Back to School Excitement, Nerves, and More!

September is a month full of change - for some of us that bring excitement, nerves, or both. Maybe you are excited for the leaves to start changing colors, pumpkin spice is finally back in stock at our favorite coffee shops, and we get to see friends we have not seen in a while!

Perhaps this month full of change also makes us a little bit nervous because we've come to love our weekday adventures with grandma, sunny beach days, and not having to sit still all day.

However you are feeling today, know that you are not alone. As you get ready to jump back into the school routine, try out some preventative, in-the-moment, and reaction de-stressors so you feel ready for anything!

Meet Our Community Health Worker!

We are so excited to welcome our newest team member to the Chariho Youth Task Force! Amy Neilson comes to us with 23 years of experience directing Rhode Island public libraries where she took pride in arming her community with timely, accurate information to meet their needs.

Amy lives here in Hope Valley with her husband and young daughter. She first met us a few years ago at the Charlestown Seafood Festival and has followed our work ever since. Amy will continue to arm our community with information as we embark on an exciting new grant with Healthy Bodies Health Mind and the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Be sure to reach out and give Amy a warm Chariho welcome!  Amy@CharihoYouth.org

South County Regional Coalition Update

Congratulations Parents! You successfully made it through your child’s early formative years.  But, hold on…welcome to the TEEN YEARS!! These years are a period of intense growth, not only physically but emotionally and intellectually.  So it’s completely understandable that, at times, parents may have feelings of confusion, frustration and sometimes being overwhelmed.  We created this booklet with you in mind.
