GOOD NEWS FROM--

THE CABINS

MINI-RESIDENCIES ARE HERE!

Thanks to the generosity of a board member, we are running mini-residencies this winter! Read on to learn more.

THE CABINS x Lincoln, MA

About the mini-residency

This two-story carriage house boasts vaulted ceilings, a huge wrap-around deck with pond views, full bathtub with showers and bath, central heating and AC, ample parking and direct access to 87 miles of hiking! Downstairs, there is a queen bed and desk—this area can only be accessed by a spiral staircase, but there is a Murphy bed upstairs that is wheelchair accessible.

About Lincoln, MA

About 30 minutes from Boston, Lincoln is a beautiful and bucolic area with lots of outdoor activities. It's also the US capital of the Bauhaus movement—the famous Gropius house and other modernist museums such as the Decordova are just around the corner. Groceries and other needs are about a 5-minute drive from house, and can be biked to.The carriage house looks directly out on a pond and you can access hiking trails right from the property.

About the property

The main house is owned by one of our board members who works in the furniture and design industry. He is Dutch and his German wife is an anesthesiologist who has mostly been working remotely. They have two children and a dog. You will see them on the property (pictured to left of the carriage house below), but your house (far right) is completely independent from theirs and they are usually away for skiing every weekend. At the time of writing, their children are in a "real" school and are thus not around during the day. The carriage house is contiguous with 80+ acres of hiking trails on conservation land around a lovely pond.

HOW TO APPLY

The deets

You must have either attended a Cabins program in the past or have been an applicant for the (cancelled) summer 2020 cycle. All applicants need to have been practicing safe and smart social distancing during the pandemic and are expected to do the same while at the residency.  If you have reason to think you have been exposed to someone with Covid, please do not apply. All residencies will be contingent upon national and state Covid guidelines and developments—changes in one or the other could effect the duration of residencies and the property owners reserve the right to cancel for Covid-related reasons.

FAQS

Will there be residencies for people who have never attended The Cabins before?

Yes, that is a goal of ours. Subscribe to our newsletter (via TheCabinsRetreat.com) to stay up to date on all our programs.

Can I retroactively apply to The Cabins 2020 session?

No.

Must I attend The Cabins residency alone?

Not necessarily. If you want to bring a spouse, partner or pandemic friend, please let us know what this person will be doing while you are working on your project.

Can I bring a pet?

This will be up to the property owners, who have a pit bull who will be inside their house unless they are outside with her.

Do I need a car?

You can probably manage with a car service, but you will  have to arrange your own transportation to and from the house. If you have a bike, bring it!

Is there any cost to attend or apply?

There isn't. Cleaning before and after your stay, heat and water are all included. The kitchen will be stocked with cookware but groceries and meals are up to you.

I still have a question. What do I do with it?
