Our Annual Membership Dinner - January 27 We will hold our annual membership dinner meeting at the Double Tree by Hilton, in American Canyon. The event starts at 6 pm with a no host bar and networking. At 6:30, we'll have our dinner, followed by a brief business meeting and then an open discussion on the goals and priorities of the Foundation. We want to hear from our members regarding what's important to them. The "early bird" price for the dinner and program is $40/person for members and $50/nonmembers. After January 22, the price will be $45 and $55, respectively. We will be sending out a written notice to all members as of November 2018. Call For Artists - Deadline is Friday, January 11 The first step in producing our community mosaic is to select the concept based on one of our community artists. A Call For Artists was sent out in December, and the deadline has been extended to Friday, January 11. We are looking for an idea that fits in with any one or all of our themes of outdoor nature, diversity or family. The Arts Foundation Board will review the entries and make a decision, which will likely be announced at our Annual Membership Dinner Meeting. The winning artist will receive a $500 stipend. Once selected, we will work with Nimbus Arts to take that concept and turn it into something that can be built with community members. From there, we will stage a number of events to invite our residents to come and help build the project. You don't have to be an artist to do this--just care about our town! The last step will be to install the completed work on the wall of the new Boys & Girls Club building in American Canyon. We hope to complete this by the first year anniversary of the building. Multi-Cultural Event Arvind Nischal hosted his annual event on November 10 and some 150-200 people attended. Several dances and performances were held, covering a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The event closed with a buffet of ethnic foods. ACAF helped sponsor the event with a grant from the City. |

Fashion Show Fund Raiser We held a Fashion Show to raise money for our Community Mosaic Art Project. Despite the smoke from the Camp Fire, several people came out and left with a great outfit or two, or some artwork, or jewelry. We raised over $300. We want to thank the Boys & Girls Club for letting us use their new facility for the event. |

MIXED ARTIST SHOW AT THE WELCOME CENTER Several member artists are showing in January, including Roberta Labaw, Jonette McNaughton, and Pam Jones. The Welcome Center is part of the Chamber of Commerce, located at 3860 Broadway (Hwy 29) in American Canyon. Contact Board member, Gloria Fouts, if you would like your art added to the schedule. |
