Happy New Year! It's 2022 already! With the world largely continuing to operate online, we are expanding our online programs. We concluded our School Nutrition Awareness Program at Sunbeam School in Mumbai. The impact analysis from our previous program showed that it led to improvement in knowledge, attitude and behaviour among children towards healthy eating. It also improved diet diversity and caused reduction in junk food consumption. To read the full data analysis, and learn about the impact from our other programs, read our Impact Report for 2020-21. Inspired by its success, we would like to offer our nutrition awareness program to more schools that provide education to underprivileged children. If you know of any schools interested in a program on food and nutrition, please reach out to us. You can also read the testimonial of one of the teachers who experienced this program below. To increase our reach, we are also in the process of translating our online content to Hindi. Check out the link below to read our recipes in Hindi. We will be adding more recipes to this section soon. As always, thank you for your kind and generous support. You can read more about how you can donate or volunteer below. Stay safe and healthy! And happy eating! Raadhika Gupta |

Awareness Program at Sunbeam School We concluded our online School Nutrition Awareness Program for 45 children from low-income families studying in Sunbeam School, Mumbai. Children learnt about macro and micro nutrients, diet diversity, harmful effects of junk food, and practical tips and recipes to make their diets more nutrient rich in an affordable manner. We thank all teachers and students for making this program a success. |

Bake Your Own Cupcake We conducted a fundraiser event for kids and adults inviting them to bake a healthy cupcake. The session was led by renowned baker Ranjana Yadav, who was amongst the Top 10 HomeBakers in India for 2020. We baked a Wholewheat Carrot Cupcake, using no refined flour, artificial colours or refined sugar. The kids loved baking and frosting their cupcakes, and later shared their pictures with us. |

Meet Ms. Meenu Pal Classteacher, VIDYA School "The program was beneficial not only for the students, but also for me. After the session, I stopped having tea with my breakfast!" Foodshaala's Food Funda program was lovely! I was the classteacher for Class 7th students, who were the participants for the program. |

The program was beneficial not only for the students, but also for me. The sessions covered small and simple things, that were taught in a practical manner. In one of the sessions, we were told that having tea immediately after meals lowers iron absorption from the food. After the session, I stopped having tea with my breakfast, even though this was an old habit! I also really enjoyed all the healthy recipes that were shared with us. |
The students also really liked the program. They used to share with me between classes how much they were enjoying it. Some of the teaching methods used were very effective. For example, using 'points' questions in between the sessions kept the students attentive throughout. Dividing the students into teams also pushed them to motivate each other and created a healthy competition among them. |
I loved the sessions so much that I used to attend them all. I used to get tired after getting home from school, but I made sure I was connected by 4 PM so I did not miss anything. Overall, I really loved the sessions! Thank you to Foodshaala for conducting this program for our students! |
