I hope your New Year is off to a wonderful start, my friends! New beginnings can invigorate us to renew personal habits and freshen our perspectives. I'm not really a "resolutions" girl, but I do try to use this transitional time from one year to the next to take stock of family routines and do some tweaking.

I'm still working on my #wordfortheyear and will share it with you later, but I will share a small "tweak" I plan on incorporating in my life this year. It's pretty simple - - - yet full of possibilities: Dig deeper.

While doing some online shopping for Christmas and browsing a friend's small business boutique, I discovered a little beaded bracelet with the simple statement "Dig Deeper." I purchased it along with some gifts for friends, not sure what I'd do with it. Something about it resonated with me, though, and I've learned to follow that nudge.

For now, I'm wearing it as a reminder...to Dig Deeper in the Word, to Dig Deeper in my conversations with others, to Dig Deeper in my relationships, to Dig Deeper in my purpose. I may not frequently share how I'm intentionally doing this or even be aware of how God is working in me through this simple phrase, but I may add #digdeeper into some of my posts as a reminder of this ongoing process.

Have you done anything similar? Have you placed some reminders to yourself around your home/office through a cute plaque, an engraved rock, an embroidered pillow?

January 2021:

It's not too late to join us for 31 Days of Wisdom! You can use these verses in your Monthly BQJ, the BQ Calendar, on the "W" page in the ABC journal, or any of your BQJ pages.

31 Days of Wisdom

New beginnings remind us that we're a Work in Progress, both internally and externally. That's what I'm capturing on my Remember Post-it page and will be praying throughout this year. If you've got the Monthly BQJ, what are YOU doing with this page?

We haven't done a Reading Challenge together before, have we? As with all my ideas I throw out there, pick and choose which ones work for you.

I thought I'd share my own personal reading challenge for January: to read a chapter of Proverbs each day. Since it is filled to the brim with parables, wise teachings, and practical ways to seek discernment, this seemed like a wonderful complement to our #31daysofwisdom series. I'll simply shade in the day's square on my January calendar page in my Monthly BQJ to keep track. #digdeeper

I'm reading through Proverbs using the Passion translation. It's new to me and I'm enjoying a slightly different "flavor" of some familiar verses. Sometimes tweaking my reading/coloring style keeps me more active in the process.

For those of you creating in your ABC Bible Quilt Journal, January is a great time to start over from the beginning and add a couple verses to those first few letter pages! I still have some blank spaces on the back of these pages, so let me know if you've found a word/verse I don't have yet.

Have you gotten your BQ calendar started for the year? I added all the family birthdays and anniversaries onto our  family BQ calendar and am writing some scriptures on the January page. I'd love to see how you're using yours!

They say hindsight is 20/20.

In this case, I guess it really is!

In light of yesterday's events in our nation's capitol, I'm sharing my USA Prayer page again and displaying it on my kitchen counter as a reminder to keep these prayers circulating. If you haven't done one yet, the free printable is available here.
