What I've Been Up To

I had a baby! 
That basically means that my reading list now has many, many picture books. We have lots of favorites, but my top 5 so far are:

Cover Reveal!

Once again, the illustrating duo Phung Nguyen Quang and Huynh Kim Lien of KAA Illustration have created a beautiful piece of art, with the cover design by Aurora Parlagreco.
 
Here's what I know so far, but all information can change as we are living in unprecedented crazy uncertain times a new normal you're on mute a pandemic.
 
Girl Giant and the Jade War is expected to release on December 7, 2021. 2021! That date seems far but I am ready for it.
 
You can add the book on Goodreads now—which would make my heart very happy—or you can even pre-order it! And I'm sorry I can't tell you much about it yet because spoilers for anyone who hasn't read Girl Giant and the Monkey King!
 
What I can tell you is that there will be dragons! a fox demon! and an ancient mythological sword! Oh, and yummy spring rolls. With salmon and lettuce and vermicelli noodles and sweet-and-sour sauce.

Little Free LibraryGiveaways Hint 
Some of you might have seen my sneak giveaways of a few signed Girl Giant and the Monkey Kings at some Little Free Libraries. These are nonprofit, independently stewarded libraries where you can leave a book or grab a book for free!

The first one where I snuck Girl Giant is not listed on Little Free Library's map, so here is a very specific hint: It's in Long Beach, California around the corner from the Martin Luther King Jr. Park on 20th.

My second stop on December 26 took me to La Mirada! The picture of the Hutchinson Hawks might be a pretty good clue for those of you local to this area.
 
This adorable Little Free Library was created by a student for his eighth grade project! 
 
This and the rest of the libraries on the list can be found on LFL's map.

My third stop took me to a lovely community center and park with an adorable LittleFree Library in it! This one was in South Whittier.
 

And finally, my last trip took me back to La Mirada to this absolutely beautiful neighborhood Little Free Library. 
 
Here's a tip:
If you go to Instagram where I posted videos of my sneak giveaways, you can zoom in on the charter numbers of the libraries and look them up on LFL's website.
