Thank you to everyone who joined us for Williamsburg 2.0 this past Saturday! Next stop...Brooklyn Bridge! But more on that later...

In the meantime, we want to share with you a set of powerful and timely stories documenting the effect of the pandemic near and far.

As we've been Staycationing in Harlem this week, we've gathered a list of awesome businesses in the neighborhood below.

#ICPConcerned: Global Images for Global Crisis

What started as a hashtag has evolved into an empowering and emotionally charged collection of photographs reflective of these unprecedented times. Hear the strength, grief, frustration, and hope in the voices of photographers in the International Center of Photography’s latest exhibition, #ICPConcerned: Global Images for Global Crisis. ICP's collection will continue to grow in the coming months, eventually reaching 1,000 images!

Look + Listen

(Seriously, this exhibit is a must-see.)

Staycationing in Harlem

This past week, we've been exploring some of Harlem's hidden history, and we wanted to supplement our exploration with resources for how to help sustain local businesses in the neighborhood (and enjoy some delicious food, drinks, and sweet treats!). It's a win-win situation.

  • Belle Harlem: Parties of 2-4 can enjoy a lovely dinner at Belle Harlem in their outdoor seating area. Whether you're in the mood for some salmon rillette or a slice of their "You wanna' peach of me?" peach cobbler, we're sure it'll be a meal you won't forget.

  • BLVD Bistro: If you want outdoor seating, takeout, or delivery, this family-run business has you covered. Carlos started cooking at age 6 and still does to this day with Markisha handling all things business. Their passion for great food is evident.

  • Ginjan Café: The Ginjan Bros like to get straight to the point: summer has only one color... Ginjan Yellow. Follow their safety measures and enjoy a bottle of their classic Ginjan ginger juice, and try some pastries made by local Harlem food artisans while you're at it.

  • Harlem Chocolate Factory: Consider this your golden ticket. Order some cool merch or a gift card while waiting for chocolate shipments to restart (hot summer days and packaged chocolate aren't friends). Want to see the chocolatiers in action? Don't watch this if you're hungry.

  • Massawa: Enjoy some authentic Ethiopian-Eritrean cuisine at Massawa, the oldest African restaurant in New York City! They're open from 1-8pm, and they deliver.

  • Serengeti Teas and Spices: If you want to try beginning your days with a cup of Nairobi Street Chai or Yemen Mocha Mattari Coffee, shop online and choose from Serengeti Teas and Spices' wide variety of teas and coffees!

  • The Edge: Order from The Edge for outdoor seating, delivery or takeout and enjoy some Jamaican, British, and American fusion! Did someone say jerk chicken alfredo?

  • Vinateria: There's a whole lot of options available at Vinateria - outdoor seating, pick-up, delivery, $15 pasta specials, 20% off wine, and cocktails and beers to go! Oh, and they've also provided over 400 meals to Harlem Hospital workers... how awesome are they?!

This is just a taste of all that Harlem has to offer. Do some exploring and enjoy finding some new favorite takeout spots!

Next week we're headed to...

Bed-Stuy

Immerse yourself in local history from the iconic Biggie mural at the intersection of Bedford and Quincy to an abandoned lot turned community garden and everything in between.
