We love how North East Essex has so much to offer for writers. Here are some of the things that have come to our notice this month.
Dunlin Press, a publishers based in Wivenhoe, will be launching Port, an anthology of words from the edge of land, at Poetry in Aldeburgh on 8 November. Tickets will be available soon.
Shout out to WriteOutLoud’s Essex outpost, Poetry Plus, hosted by the Red Lion Manningtree. Poetry Plus has been meeting in the Pump Room on the second Tuesday in the month for over two years now, and everyone is welcome to listen, read your own work or that of other poets, absolutely free. Unless you are a dog. Or under 16. Next meeting 7.30pm Tuesday 10 September.
On the fourth Thursday of each month, Poetrywivenhoe has traditionally been presenting established poets and local readers; together with the popular ‘Out of the Hat’ Open Mic session, BUT after their summer break there will be some changes and they envisage having planned readings with group discussion.
WriteNight is a gathering of creative writers from all walks of life. They meet on the fourth Mondays of every month at 7:30pm in Colchester Makerspace, Trinity Street, Colchester. @ColWriteNight

Don't forget to listen to Writer's Block on Colne Radio and online with Big Ear Radio (Equal Ability Radio) at six every Monday. The aim of the programme is to shine a literary light on Essex and its writers including self publishers, indie, hybrid and traditionally published writers.
And finally don't forget to see Kiss in the Mist, a photography exhibition by alumnus, Brendan Wilson. Held at The Level Best Art Cafe, Colchester, from 8th to 11th November this work explores the seasons on the River Stour.
