Hello September! We don't know about you, but we've been very busy! Since our last newsletter earlier this year we have been taking meetings, corresponding, and researching. There has also been a noticeable shift in mood with the growing number of demonstrations and demonstrators. We currently have a few projects on the go that we could use your help on. |
Earlier this year Reem Alsalem (UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls) had released a statement on the silencing of women in western countries from speaking about women's rights. In response we mailed our own letter to the Ministers of Women and Gender Equality (WAGE), Public Safety, Justice, and their opposition counterparts. |
Since then we have had a couple of meetings and we continue to communicate. We will be adding a postcard campaign in the future, so look out for that if you are interested in participating in direct action! |

Inaugural Women's Speaker's Corner |
Have you heard? We are so excited about hosting Canada's inaugural speakers' corner for women! Everyone is welcome to this free event, but we are especially excited about providing a platform for women to share their voices. It is happening tomorrow at 2pm at Ken Ross Park in Ottawa. |
Men are welcome too, and we appreciate your support in prioritizing women's participation. We have our permits and are ready to go! If you intend on attending in person, you can find the details here. If you cannot go, you can still catch our live stream on either Facebook or YouTube. This is just the first of future Women Speak Out events that we plan on holding in different parts of the country! | | |

State of Women's Rights Compendium |
We have compiled a compendium of articles, research, polls, and data that express the current state of women's rights in Canada. |
The Compendium is designed to provide a clear picture for policy makers to understand the erosion of women's rights. As of this moment in time it is clear that most politicians and media do not understand that basic rights for women are regressing. In order for policy makers and politicians to be confronted with facts we are planning on mailing out as many as possible. In order to do this we need your assistance in raising funds to pay for the printing costs, any copyright costs, and postage costs. If you would like to help make this goal a reality, please donate to our Compendium fundraiser. |
There is currently a petition being sponsored by MP Leslyn Lewis that we endorse and support. The petition speaks to the need for women's spaces, as well as clear policies and laws that take into account the unique needs of women, as well as the need for safeguarding. We ask that all Canadians sign the petition (be sure to check your email and click confirm afterwards). If you are not Canadian, you can support this Petition by sharing it as widely as possible. |

We are currently developing more resources that can be used by you and conducting investigations. By donating you can help ensure we can do more actions. Donating also helps us maintain our day-to-day operations like keeping our website online. We thank everyone who has donated, every penny helps. We also have an online store that has a variety of t-shirts, bags, stickers, door hangers, and other things to show your outward support. One of our favourite new items are our baseball caps. Retweet and share our content by following us on Twitter. Did you know we have a variety of videos that we've produced? And a good online library of reports and studies from unbiased sources on a variety of topics. You can find our letters and reports published here. Lastly, we welcome any new membership applications! |
We wouldn't be able to do all of this without your help. With that in mind we have some new items available for purchase. Shirts with the definition of woman, bilingual door hangers, and more. We have a variety of stickers available. Prices include HST and shipping costs, so there's no guesswork. Bonus: All orders $100 or above automatically get a 10% discount. All proceeds go towards continuing our work. |

The work we do cannot happen without the valuable time and monetary donations that have been generously made. You can help us continue with events like our FYI Event, future Postcard Campaigns, and more. There is now an option to contribute monthly, make a single donation, or donate towards one of our current initiatives. We are grateful for every contribution that has been made to date. |
