Dear Pausers,
A few weeks ago we hosted the Magical Menopause Mystery Tour. A handful of us talked about the little we know about menopause and the vastness of what we don't know. We talked about the societal reasons that menopause is so neglected as a health focus. We raged at the system. We supported each other. We drank Aperol Spritzes, and we laughed. A few days later one of our past Pausers shared this link. The title of the article, Menopuse is Something that Almost All Women Go Through-- So Why the Silence, says it all.
One of the best paragraphs in the article, the one that really speaks to why we do this annual retreat reads:
Medically speaking, menopause is puberty in reverse, a transition from one biological phase of ovarian function to another. But the way we view these two events couldn’t be more different. So let’s set the record straight. Menopause deserves at least the same attention as puberty — I’d argue even more — and menopause is no more a disease than being a man is a disease.
At Put Some Claws in Your Pause we focus on Rest, Ritual, and Community. Menopause deserves some attention-- a ritual to honor it and a community to support it. And, let's face it, traversing this unknown terrain is exhausting and we all need some REST!
Join us for the fourth annual retreat. We've got room for you! If your budget is telling you the price point is too high, then talk to us about a work-study position. We want you there. All of you. In the meantime, join us for another walk in the woods to talk menopause. Details below.
