This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age.

The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.” Zechariah 8:4-5

What a beautiful picture - our older saints lined South St. Louis Avenue sitting in the shade of the trees, boys and girls playing in the street. It was a scene right out of the Bible in Zechariah 8!! This past Sunday, Westlawn Youth Network (WYN) hosted a block party in partnership with Westlawn Gospel Chapel.

An outdoor church service featuring WYN staff and our summer teen interns was one of the highlights of the day. The fashion and talent shows were dazzling. Food was given out freely to everyone. Booths with children’s activities lined the street. One hundred backpacks filled with school supplies were given out in partnership with CRU and Cook County Commissioner, Dennis Deer.

Each activity station was uniquely created to share God’s love in its own special way. Our Love of our Lord Jesus Christ and our desire to share this Love with our neighbors was at the core of everything. We are so thankful that we were able to pass out almost one hundred Bibles. Pray with us that God would move people to read them and that the Holy Spirit would give a vision of God’s love.
