"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said."

We have had a brilliant term sharing Jesus in schools in so many ways, starting with our Storytelling workshops and finishing with our Easter workshops, with lots of RE lessons in between. It's been busy and such a privilege to work with so many wonderful young people, and we are so thankful to God for the doors that are open to us and the many opportunities provided.

Storytelling Workshops

Hannah writes...

National Storytelling Week is a great opportunity to look at the best-selling book of all time and explore some of the most popular stories told from that book. Over 2 weeks, with just one member of staff, we delivered our Storytelling workshop to 22 classes, approximately 600 pupils. The workshop looked at the Scripture Union adaptation of Luke’s Gospel – ‘Diary of a Disciple’. Pupils were given the opportunity to explore stories about Jesus (Jesus calms the storm) as well as stories Jesus told. There were interactive activities such as quizzes and storyboarding, as well as written activities in the journal they each received. Each pupil was gifted a copy of the Diary of a Disciple book and were told it was local churches who had paid for it - they were over the moon and extremely grateful.

Easter Workshops

Catherine writes...

The last 2 weeks of March have kept us really busy delivering Easter workshops to KS1 and KS2 children across 15 schools. With Foundation and KS1 we focussed on familiar things associated with the Easter period and their significance. We watched a lovely version of the Easter story in poetry form and did an interactive quiz based on events in the story. KS2 children became detectives to identify the ‘mystery man’ on the road to Emmaus. They worked together in pairs to sort out jumbled up information, take notes from a recorded interview and link Old Testament prophecies to Easter. They worked out that the ‘mystery man’ was Jesus! This made way for lots of explanation from us about the significance of Easter for Christians. Approximately 1175 children explored the Easter story across 47 workshops.

  • That the amazing message of Easter would stay in the hearts of all the children and staff over the Easter holidays.
  • For our volunteer Catherine, working with us.
  • For God's wisdom and guidance as our team and work grows and develops.
  • Thanking God for the opportunities we continue to have in many schools, as well as praying he will open doors in rebuilding our links with other schools after Covid.
  • Our ongoing conversations with faith groups about partnering with us in God’s mission in schools across Stockport.
  • Our ongoing financial needs as a charity in a time when everybody is feeling the pinch.
  • For our staff, Sarah and Hannah, as they attend the Scripture Union North gathering residential in April for local mission partners.
  • School bookings for the Y6 transition workshop ‘It’s Your Move’.
