"In February there is everything to hope for and nothing to regret." Patience Strong, poet The new year has gotten off to a great start for Ted. January ushered in some good cheer and "rum" fun, as well as opportunities of more said "rum" fun in the coming months. Ted also had a fantastic meet up with the legendary literary agent/writer to whom he owes the launch of the Lord Alex Hawke series. Desk drawer organizing produced a happy discovery of thank-you notes to Ted from President George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Bush, and Ted will be speaking at another event in Connecticut in early February. The legendary Michael Korda and the launch of HAWKE The legendary Michael Korda and Ted are pictured at an exceptional talk about Michael's amazing family and his life. Michael is a phenomenal writer, having penned such books as "Charmed Lives" and "Horse People" and was with Simon & Schuster for 40 years--ultimately becoming Editor-in-Chief. During that tenure, he had heard that one of the young Simon & Schuster editors was thinking of buying a spy novel, HAWKE, by an unknown author, Ted. Upon hearing about the manuscript, Michael ordered that a copy be sent to him at his horsefarm. The young editor got wind of this --which was tantamount to a "thumbs up" -- and called Ted's agent and offered to buy HAWKE on the spot. Ted's writing career was thus launched! When Ted said "True or False, Michael?" With a gleeful smile Michael replied, "True, my boy, absolutely true." It was by any measure a splendid evening. |

Notes of 'thanks' from President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush |
A pair of recently found letters from President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara thanking Ted for participating in Mrs. Bush's Family Literacy Foundation event in 2009 was a happy trip down memory lane. Ted had the pleasure of sharing the podium with two heavy-weights of the literary world: Jon Meacham and Christopher Buckley. The icing on the cake: Having the President write that Ted "...brightened (ing) the life of Barbara Bush, and in the process, so many others." To top it all off, Mrs. Bush "...loved TSAR"! What a true honor to be a part of such a vital and important cause. |
