Oof.
If that post-it resonates with you, I want you to know:
I see you.
I hear you.
You are not alone.
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to run a 2-Day EFFT Caregiver Workshop IN REAL LIFE and it was a true gift. To be in the room with Parents and Caregivers willing to spend two 7-hour days learning EFFT skills was nothing short of inspiring.
To start the group, I asked the Caregivers to write down words on post-its to describe how they were feeling. One Mom wrote this and stuck it on the board. As we went around the room, one after another, nearly every Caregiver said, "Yes! Depleted! Me too!".
Being a parent is hard. Being a parent of a teen or young adult struggling with their eating and emotions is downright exhausting.
Start with this EFFT tool: "It makes sense I feel depleted because...". This will help you stay out of judgement of your feelings and start to make space for the process of acceptance. Trust me, if you are getting this newsletter, I can promise it makes sense if you are feeling depleted. Start with self-validation and and then try to look for opportunities to refuel your tank.
Sending you all my best,
Bryn
