Happy Fall and Winter to the West Bay Community
The Board of the West Bay Residents Association is pleased to introduce to you Community Update #3 Newsletter for 2021
In this issue
In our Developments Section we include an article on the Wexford development slated for the corner of Dunsmuir Rd and West Bay Terrace – scheduled to go to public hearing November 15th at 7pm.
Also included is the latest information on West Bay neighbourhood development proposals: There are currently 10 development projects planned or underway in our community – check out the updates.
Finally, under this edition’s Development’s Section, everyone would think that developers switching from building condos towards rental dwellings would be a good thing, right? But is it?
In our West Bay’s History and Heritage section, see the Yarrow Shipbuilders Esquimalt story to learn what a major role Yarrow played in our history and the war effort.Also in this section—a walk down memory lane—see the special pictorial of a very special house that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
In our What’s Happening section we have updates on the CRD’s Sewage Treatment Plant – What is that smell?Also, many municipalities utilize Development Cost Charges but Esquimalt does not – learn what they are and decide for yourself if it is something the Township should consider in the future.
“Meet Your Neighbour” community event over the summer unfortunately was unable to happen, due to Covid.Maybe next year…here’s hoping.

In 2015, Council disbanded its Heritage Advisory Committee.We explore its re-establishment and an expanded terms of reference.
We will also look at Esquimalt’s development of a Development Capacity Assessment Report.
We also hope to include a listing of some of the businesses located in the West Bay area…and much more!
