Hi there, It's exactly two months from today to the CYA 2021 kick-off. We have no idea where this year has disappeared to. |

As per usual, the important stuff first. We're thrilled to welcome Sandhya Parappukkaran to the CYA Success family. We hope you'll take a couple of minutes to check out her story if you haven't already done so.

Assessment Submissions Date If you have booked an assessment at this year’s conference, don’t forget you need to get your work in to us by the 15th May. You can download the guidelines, which has all the info in there as to what to do, how to set out and most importantly – how to submit your work. If you book an assessment after the 15th May, you will need to submit your work when making your booking, so make sure it’s all ready to do. There is a second Zoom session on Wednesday 5th May at 7 pm AEST if you have any questions you want to ask Tina about the assessment. |
|
|
You can book and assessment and submit your work via the assessments page. Please make sure you have read all the submission guidelines before submitting your work. |

This weeks guest post is by Lisa Black who will be presenting Rejections, you only fail when you let them stop you, and Forensics 101 for your novel at this year's conference on Sunday 18th July. |

My Writing Spaceby Lisa Black This is my home office in which I write. It looks messier than it really is…most of the time.

Bootcampers’ Update Important update for those doing a picture book bootcamp; following on from feedback we received during the March bootcamps, we have updated the guidelines so that you can submit 2 picture book texts, and if you are an author/illustrator – you can include rough storyboards with your texts. You can find the revised guideline on the website. Bootcamp work needs to be submitted by 22nd May, or at the time of booking, whichever is the later. |

Tip for the weekSometimes things get overwhelming, and your creative well runs a little dry — time for a refill. Do something else, watch a movie, a play, a concert, a ballet, read a book in a different genre or create something else – cook, sew, garden, play a game online, scrapbook or even make a vision board (so you are still working with a different medium, but it’s still writing-related). Do something creative that is still feeding your creative well, creating something that isn’t actually putting one word after another. |
