Check out what you will be creating this week

term4 2018

I am planning to have a short 'show your work' session next week so please bring the best painting you have done during this term.

See you.  Magda

Week 7

The subject for this week is a rock cliff with lots of big rocks, bushes, water and reflections ( the subject photo was taken in Cataract Gorge, Tasmania). We will try to simplify this complex scene by concentrating on the rocks, water and sky.

Print the images from the suggested subjects PDF file. Also, sketch the outline in pencil.

Tips- rocks in watercolours

Observe carefully to capture the overall shape of a rock then use negative space to show dark spaces between the rocks. Keep distant or small rocks simple by suggesting just light, shadow and overall shape. Show more details on the rocks that are in foreground/ appear close to the viewer. Use texture by scratching lines while damp or spraying dots and use a strong pigment.
