We are looking forward to a great month and love that we have so many wonderful consignor’s just like you to bring your wonderful items in to consign.
Just a few reminders - we are no longer marking items on a 120-day consignment period. Instead, we have switched to “Current Market Trends as determined by Déjà Vu” consignment period. We still have markdowns, but they are over a shorter time period determined by the market. This change has done what we hoped and is turning the merchandise over sooner and allowing us to use the floor space we have in a more efficient way. It has also resulted in a faster pay out as your items overall are selling faster. Another reminder is the consignment period is now shorter, so we have also increased our drop in price per time period to 25% per time period. So, price drops are 25%, 50% & 75%. This has been encouraging our buyers to buy sooner and not try to wait out the monthly drop. We realize “Growing Pains” can be hard, but it is also a good thing as we are a small business that is still here serving you in the best way we can. Good News - our new “Point of Sale” system is up and running as of mid-April! It was a huge process for us, and we wanted to get everything right. When the system was migrated with our current system, we started the process on a Monday night after we closed the store. It was not without its snags and Erin stayed until 11 pm trying to work through the tedious process. Lou worked on it until 2 am the next day and the migration team from the point-of-sale company was finally able to make it happen at about 5am. So, when we opened on that Tuesday everything was ready to go. With a completely new system we are learning more every day, and we continue to improve and get faster but please continue to have patience with us as there is still a lot we do not know.
The most recent change we have made is with boxes. Unfortunately, there has been some confusion with what the size of a medium box actually is, so we have come up with a solution that is working out much better. If the box you have is too large to fit into one of our cubby organizers, we will have boxes available at the store for you to transfer your items into when you arrive. We are happy to give you up to two of our medium sized boxes to fill. We are still continuing to take larger decorative items that do not fit in a box. We just need to make sure they have your name on them so we can tag it correctly. This change has helped us out greatly as we no longer have husbands bringing in heavy boxes and leaving them for us to try to move later. It has also allowed us to stay more organized and given us the ability to keep our workspace much more workable.
If you have furniture, please get it pre-approved by sending us an email, messaging us through Facebook or bring in a picture on your phone. We are currently taking summer clothing until the end of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve. Please make sure all holiday items are separate from your everyday items. This allows us to get items out in a faster time period than when we have to separate them. Please remember the sooner you bring your clean items in the better chance they have to sell.
July 26th starts Downtown Clinton’s sidewalk sales with July 27th being our MOONLIGHT MADNESS sale! Déjà vu will be OPEN at 9am and we will not close until 10pm on the 27th. This is the 3rd year for this event and has been a lot of fun “night shopping” Aug 2nd & 3rd is Iowa’s Tax-Free Weekend for clothing and shoes!
