Enlarging the D-PATH dissemination, cooperation and follow-up base |

Viorica Alexandru of Asociatia Initiativa Cetatenilor Seniori. Romania, represented the D-PATH project in the National Conference of Patience Associations, 4-5 may 2023, Bucharest, Romania. The purpose was to enlarge the cooperation, dissemination and follow up base of the D-PATH Partnership. 118 Romanian bodies in the governmental, NGO, medical, technological and pharma fields related to diabetes and beyond confirmed participation, received the D-PATH leaflet . Those concerned specifically to diabetes (15) benefited from the project presentation and the introduction to the D-PATH conference and project meeting to take place at Braila -7-9 June 2023. The interest was high particularly concerning the diet discussions and cooking show as well as the follow up intentions. Organizations from Cluj (Glice) and Constanta (Sweet Land) made firm request to participate. |

A Learning Event about Diabetes and Beyond |

The event was sized for max 30 participants - people with diabetes, educators, health workers. On the first day a group of adults, youth and children were invited to the workshops conducted by Neil Bell of BMECTE- Sweden and Anastasia Gkrimoura of Out of the Ordinary - Greece on the first day. The day included the partners’ discussion on project progress, a collection of presentations by doctors, heads of NGOs , directors of nurse education schools from Romania and Poland. The end of the day was marked an outdoor activity as a guided city tour in the Old Center of the city. The second day was all outdoor including walks, talks and traditional Danube Delta lunch . The 3rd day was a full contact experience with the theory of healthy diet, experiencing the perception of sugar in strawberry based foods with different sweet levels followed by lunch and talks with the lead culinary dietician . Special events included traditional welcome to the venue, project and friendship anniversaries, signing a letter of intention for new projects under the Polish coordination in the next 5 years |

…Bread and Salt … a Romanian Welcome Tradition |

7 June … The participants were welcome with bread and salt by the heritage centre staff wearing national costumes. The meaning of it is a wish of love, kindness, and humanity. Registration of participants followed . 35 participants registered in the conference activities . Each was handed a back pack with useful objects for outdoor activities. |

7 June ... Alina Sulicu, the director of the County Heritage Centre of Braila involved participants in a physical exercise before the sit and listen to the speakers’ inputs on diabetes from a variety of perspectives: doctors, educators, patients organizations. |

Learning about Diabetes with D-PATH Speakers |

Presentations were made with a purpose to put the basis for partners’ further experience exchange, supporting D-PATH final outputs and lay the foundation for post-project cooperation in the next 5 years. Theory and practice in Poland and Romania were shared : members , to cover the project need for their families; associations of patients experience in Romania in view of experience exchange inside the project and future post-project cooperation Magdalena Pardel- Trefler, the D-PATH coordinator, moderated the partners’ talk on updating their contributions to the projects and getting familiar the audience and the media with the project; directors of Nurse training schools in Romania and Poland presented their educational approaches covering the project needs for educators ; romanian diabetes doctor presenting her experience on diabetes diagnostic and screening as well as the latest provisions of the Diabetes National Program as a contribution to the D-PATH research strand; overview of the family doctor role in the health care of people with diabetes, in danger of diabetes and their family

7-9 June ... D-PATH in one voice ...what could life be without something sweet....!...30 years of small and big projects created by Viorica, 13 years of friendship between Magdalena and Viorica , one project ending successfully, a 5 years partnership starting with gusto... |

On the 7th June two workshops took place. Their role was to test the D-PATH tools in an attempt to get a final needs based format. |

D-PATH Board game workshop |

Two workshops were planned and delivered. One to test and finish the adjustment of the D-PATH Board game with Romanian participants managed by Neil Bell from BMECTE, Sweden . The latest changes based on test with Romanian players produce the final D-PATH game cards and instructions. At the end of the project the game will be available in English, Romanian, Polish and Greek. Access is possible upon request from Magdalena Pardel-Trefler, head of the D-PATH project. |

Illustrating diet & wellbeing through nutrition the workshop was managed by Anastasia Gkrimoura, O3 Out Of Ordinary, Greece and Stefan Cudalbeanu, Romania with medical support by Maciej Kucharski, Poland. It was a day with a lot of brains having LEGO masterly handled by Anastasia Gkrimoura...with spectacular interventions by Mario Soloviov, Sonia Crisan și Mihaela Dobrila, young participants from Braila, Romania. |

A Full Day about Healthy Eating |

9th of June was a the day combining different approaches to give participants a multifaceted perspective over their choices to adjust their lifestyle and choose, combine, cook and eat healthy food . This part of the conference brought forward Maciej Kucharski (20) Maciej Kucharski | Facebook , Physician with diabetes type I, Health Educator, Poland, Mihail Balaban (20) Facebook -culinary nutritionist and Silvia Albu – personal development trainer to complete the education and research strands of D-PATH with a lecture, cooking show and personal development exercise. The Cooking show with Mihail Balaban, culinary nutritionist - included educational, research and practical parts, i.e. 1. Carbohydrates, friends or foes 2 (training) 2 Sugar perception in different foods based on strawberries (research and evaluation) 3. introduction to the lunch menu and interaction with participants over lunch (practice). All inputs of the day will be published in different DPATH brochures concerning training and research to be disseminated online or via contact with the project coordinator Magdalena Parel Trefler. |
