"Questions that have the power to make a difference are ones that engage people in an intimate way, confront them with their freedom, and invite them to co-create a future possibility."
~Peter Block, author of Community: The Structure of Belonging
To say the least, this year was like no other. With the inability to have our students in class, conduct experiments, and the other constraints we all faced, the teaching profession is one where we had to completely rethink how we were going to engage our students. And we did it! Congratulations!
We’ve been spending time at the end of this year reflecting on what we have learned, what we accomplished, and our hopes and fears for our classrooms and education moving forward. One thing we all agree on is that after this year we should not return to the way things were. We know our students are resilient and brilliant and they deserve to have classrooms that affirm their identities, leverage their experiences, encourage their curiosity, and cultivate their criticality.
Our STEM Ed Virtual Showcase is our way of celebrating classrooms where teachers are moving beyond the way things were. Through Windows into STEM Classroom (WIC) presentations, you will better understand democratic STEM pedagogy and the transformative work of our STEM Ed Fellows.
