We have had a lot of wonderful adoptions in the last months. First was one of our beloved lesson ponies, Madeline. It was time for Madeline to retire, and start her very well deserved new life as a retiree.
Madeline has worked as a lesson pony for us for many years. She has been one of our BEST ponies to teach with. She has taught multiple people how to ride. She has given many courage and confidence. She has helped many feel safe. She has been worth her weight in gold, and then some. Madeline went through a major sinus infection a few years back, and recovered remarkably well. She has always been a rock we could count on. She has given us her all. And now, it's our turn to give her the retirement her body needs. With the help from our veterinarians, we discovered she has a very old sesamoid fracture in her right rear leg that's causing her discomfort with a rider on her back. The fracture happened in her past, before her time with us. Unfortunately, there isn't much left we can do to help her with this. The absolute best we can do for Madeline is give her retirement. And that is exactly what we did. In October, Madeline officially retired from our riding program, and has since gone to her new forever home, where she gets to be pampered and enjoy the grassy pastures for the rest of her life. She also made a new best friend already! Together they will enjoy their retirement and live their best lives.
We cannot thank Madeline enough for all her time with us. We will miss you greatly.
Then there was Haylen.
Haylen came to us in 2010 with a big group of other Premarin rescue foals. Haylen was quickly adopted by a wonderful young lady. Several years later, the young lady's life took such a turn, she could no longer care for Haylen, and Haylen came back to us.
Since then, Haylen made great friends with Kelly. The two of them fell in love, of course. After many months of preparation, Kelly was finally able to make it all official and take Haylen home!
Haylen has a very important purpose, in her new home, as Hoofbeats With Purpose Inc’s first equine partner! Kelly feels very grateful and blessed to have Haylen in her life. Haylen is a joy to work with, and will now be preparing for her role in their program of Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning and Healing for women veterans.
Best wishes for both, Kelly & Haylen.
Do you remember the 5 new donkeys that recently came to us? We have been fortunate enough to find homes for all of them as well! Daisy has already traveled to her new home, as a companion to two other little donkeys. She now goes by the name Luna.
Jack & Harley were adopted shortly after, and will still be be staying with us for a couple of months, before they travel to their new home.
And Smudge & Cupcake, mother and daughter. Paperwork is currently being filed to make everything official.
