Sometimes I feel like a motherless child Last night I looked into the round face of the moon she smiled and beckoned me come "Come with me" she said "Come on a journey A journey through time and space And I will reveal to you your own journey" Her round face was insistent! As I climbed through the window I grew wings and flew I flew back to a time and space when my spirit soared Soared above the clouds Time when I laughed from the belly A time when men knew how to be men And women rejoiced in their womanhood! She said, "Open your eyes my child Do not be afraid to look at yourself If you are to recognise truth in your own face! Sing my child", she said, "Sing". I looked I sang and I danced Suddenly, I heard the rising rhythm of the drum I saw nibble hands caressing the tight skin of drums Hips wise to the rhythm of Mother earth gyrated to the beat of the drum And the pounding of feet I watched. I saw and i was happy written by Nne Dimela Yekwai(c)2020 from her book STOLEN LOVE lost jigida reclaimed |
