Hi there!
We did it! The NextGen/Synthesis/Ad Astra kids' Lunabotic designs are now on the NASA/Futureengineers website!
At NextGen Edu, we envision our kids to shape the future. The aim of education is not only the mastery of knowledge, but also whole person development. Students should be active agents in their own learning; and should demonstrate competencies. Our innovative curriculum is competency-based, which means that we as educators think of learning experiences in terms of hands-on activities, research projects, experiential education, community and real world impact, and performance-based assessments. For example, students at NextGen will make animations and movies on social justice and environmental awareness; and participate in New York Times STEM writing contest and write for an authentic, real world audience.
At NextGen Edu, we weave 21st century skills into everything we do to ensure students' long-term success and happiness in the real world. So what are the 7 Survival Skills For 21st Century according to Tony Wagner?
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Collaboration across networks and leading by influence
- Agility and adaptability
- Initiative and entrepreneurship
- Effective oral and written communication
- Accessing and analyzing information
- Curiosity and imagination
Of course, these are just survival skills; and we at Nexten Edu include MORE than these in our vision and practice. I'll share about those later!
Tomorrow will be the first day of the 15-day celebration of the Spring Festival/Chinese Lunar new year: the year of the tiger! May we all be like the tiger: healthy, energetic, strong and courageous!!!
