End of Summer Integration Day Out As part of our Mosney Summer Camp we ended the successful month of activities with a day out to Carlingford Adventure Centre. Young people from Mosney Village, Meath Comhairle na nÓg and Meath YouthQuake made lasting memories of friendship and fun while taking part in a variety of team-building activities. Our Youth Workers couldn't keep up with the energy and enthusiasm of the young people as they scaled walls, trudged through muck and completed physical and mental challenges. Safe to say everyone had a well earned rest when they returned home. This project was funded and supported by the Dept of Justice Community Integration Fund and Dept of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth UBU Your Place Your Space. |

Supporting the re-opening of our Youth Clubs Our Lisa is so excited! This is the time of year that the club volunteers reconnect after the summer break as clubs normally prepare to reopen. With the restrictions slowly lifting, Lisa is looking forward to visiting the affiliated youth clubs when they are up and running to see all the wonderful young people having fun. This is thanks to our dedicated volunteers who have been doing their best in these challenging times to keep engaged with their youth club members. |

We are awaiting direction from the Department to advise on when it is safe to reopen Youth Club doors and ensure that everyone is safe and well. In the meantime, names are being taken for upcoming Child Protection & Safeguarding training. If you are interested in starting a new youth club, Lisa will be most happy to meet with you and start the conversation. Contact Lisa on 087 090 6062 |

YouthQuake begin delivering Emergency Contact cards This week YouthQuake members and our Youth Work team began delivering over 15,000 Emergency Contact cards to 23 secondary schools in Co Meath. These cards can be used as bookmarks in the students school diaries, giving them immediate access to vital emergency contacts if they are in need of support. The card is also foldable and can be carried in the back pocket of jeans, a bag or even a wallet, making it easily accessible. |

To promote this initiative members of Meath YouthQuake drafted a press release for the Meath Chronicle to highlight how the initiative came about. Well done to all the young people involved who worked so hard on the design of the card through challenging Covid19 restrictions to ensure it was ready for the new school year. This project was funded and supported by Community Mental Health Fund, Dept of Health and Meath Co Council |

Placing Students in the real world of Youth Work For many years we have supported second and third level education institutions by welcoming their students to complete their placements with us. From 2 weeks to 3 month placements we have facilitated some fantastic future social care workers into our world of Youth Work. It's a world of growth and development with young people at the heart of everything we do. Recently we had to change how we supported students on their placement, due to Covid19 restrictions, by using a blended youth work method. Working online and face to face challenged them on adapting theory to practice and they have stepped up to mark. |

Ciara is a 3rd year student attending IT Carlow where she is studying a level 8-degree in Applied Social Studies, this is what she has to say about her placement experience “Finding placement this year was extremely difficult due to COVID-19 restrictions and the circumstances they placed on many organisations throughout the country. It seemed almost impossible to find an organisation to allow me to carry out the 400 hours of placement required to pass my third year of college. I got in contact with Youth Work Ireland Meath during the month of May, to see would there be any possibility of allowing student placements to take place throughout the summer months. From the first contact I had with them, the whole team were extremely supportive and caring. I commenced my placement at the start of July, and ever since it has been an incredible learning experience”. |
