#SmallActs Huddle Stories: July 2021

Ammonoosuc

Small Acts happening in Bethlehem. Mini bouquets and poems to brighten a dreary day. This Small Act-or left these lovely hand picked bouquets with poems for any passerby to take and enjoy.

Androscoggin

After a heartbreaking softball loss for this GMHS Senior, Madisyn Buteau decided to treat her brothers to ice cream. To her surprise after ordering at Northland Dairy Bar, the cashier told her someone had already treated them to ice cream and to pay it forward. Coincidentally and unbeknownst to them, my other daughter and a friend were there and they also got complimentary treats.
I love where we live!!! (And then when I shared this story with my sweet husband he said when he was at Mary's Pizza paid for someone's pizza tonight - just cause.

John Israel

A young Jefferson resident named Austin picked out and made goodie buckets for local police departments to enjoy in the heat and also share with the community while on patrol.  The officer's were very thankful for the goodies and looked forward to both enjoying them and handing them out to children in the community.

Monadnock

The Monadnock Huddle is planning to use an ice cream truck vendor to pay forward some treats for their customers. The summer camp kids are going to take action and spread the good news to parents and others at home.

Sunday

For most of my adult life I have been collecting postcards. Every time we went to a new place I would buy a few. Over the years these have accumulated and now I have an eclectic variety and more than I could ever send on my own. Rather than let them collect dust I bought postage for all of them and put them out for anyone to take and mail. To me small acts is about connecting with people. Why not say " Hello. I'm thinking about you" to someone on a vintage postcard.

Upper Androscoggin

The 6th grade did a beautification project at the Veteran’s Memorial in Milan, arranging silk flowers and a wreath. They had extra supplies and opted to deliver them to veterans’ homes in the community. The students talked over the experience when they got back and shared how good it felt to do something in service for local veterans. The process inspired one of the students to take more small acts materials home and deliver a gift card to a student at another school. Other teachers noticed and there is already talk about how small acts can be woven into the school’s plans in the fall. The ripple effect is in action!

Stay tuned for more #SmallActs updates this summer.
