Choose Patience

Happy Friday my friends!

In my letter last week, I mentioned PATIENCE, which is one of the major characteristics of the ox. (Read my last week's letter by clicking the "Read the Letter" button below.)

Patience is something that we could all use a bit more of especially when it comes to achieving our goals. Be it an academic goal, career goal, fitness goal, or personal goal, it’s important to be driven but being patient as we "drive" has definitely helped me a lot.

Some of you, if not most of you know that I am a college professor. I teach one of the most “exciting” subjects: Accounting! Most of my students struggle a lot in the beginning. I tell them to be patient, practice the fundamentals, and follow the steps one by one, and not to give up. I stop them from rushing through the class, to really enjoy it. At the end of the semester, I read their assignments and say to myself “Look at how good now he/she is applying the accounting skills!” Patience is based on the end, not the beginning.

I’ve heard the following statement from many of my students, “I’m not really a number person, but there’s something about your classes I really like.” I know what they are referring to.

I hope you choose patience in this impatient world. The process of being patient takes practice but the results are often very plentiful and long-lasting!
