Committee Corner: Governance

The Governance Committee is advisory to the PVCA Board of Directors. The membership of this committee is comprised of former PVCA leaders.

The purpose of the Committee is threefold:

  • Enhancing the effectiveness and viability of PVCA
  • Providing historical context
  • Serving as a liaison to the larger community including local government

Currently, the Committee’s primary focus is on a complete revision of PVCA’s Bylaws. The extensive work these volunteers have done to date is greatly appreciated by the Board and we look forward to presenting the fruits of their labor at the Spring Member Meeting.

Fall Member Meeting A Great Success!

On Thursday, November 7th at the Bremen Town Ballroom in Millheim, approximately forty of PVCA's members, including Board and Committee members,

gathered for the annual Fall Member Meeting.

This year's meeting made use of the World Café format, a "powerful social technology for engaging people in conversations that matter, offering an effective antidote to the fast-paced fragmentation and lack of connection in today’s world."

After a welcome and opening introductions, attendees took a seat at one of six tables represented by some of PVCA's various committees. Each table was led by either a PVCA employee and/or a Board or committee member. Discussions consisted of an overview of the committee’s role and responsibilities, as well as their contribution to the PVCA mission. Participants had the opportunity to respond to questions posed by the committee representatives, as well as ask any questions they had of their own. After ten minutes, participants rotated to the next table until everyone had an opportunity to visit each committee represented that evening. Attendees then rejoined as one large group to review the feedback at the end of the meeting. Special thanks to Annie Mascelli for leading this engaging and fruitful exercise. Annie will be providing the feedback from each table's responsive in the near future and we will be sure to share that here.

Members then cast ballots for candidates for PVCA's Board of Directors.

We congratulate the following members on being elected to the Board:

Kat Alden

Eli Ward

Peter Buckland

Scot Chambers

Special thanks to Erin and Josh McCracken for providing a wonderful venue for our meeting at the
Bremen Town Ballroom!
