Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA ) has started preparing for the second cohort of the apprenticeship program.
UHOA will implement the program together with the Ministry of Gender and Labour and Social Development,(MGLSD), and the Uganda Hotel Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI). It is funded by the International Labour Organisation and ILO Prospects.

At a workshop at Hotel Africana, chaired by Jean Byamugisha, the CEO of the Uganda Hotel Owners Association guided hotel owners on how to deal or work with the apprentices after training at Uganda Hotel Tourism Training Institute.
Recently, 200 apprentices from Nakivale Refugee Settlement and Rhino and Imvepi Settlement were registered and enrolled at UHTTI in Jinja for training.

The graduation of the first batch of Apprentices from the National Apprenticeship Scheme took place at the Sheraton Hotel in October. It was attended by the Minister of Gender Labour and Social Development, Betty Amongi as the Guest of Honour who applauded the Uganda Hotel Owners Association which was represented by Suzan Muhwezi, the Board Chairperson of the successful hotel apprenticeship program.
