It is currently housed at the Dalton Middle School. Please contact Laura Grimm (lauragrimm1234@gmail.com) if you wish to use this fantastic resource. ENERGY FROM THE SUN (Grades 6-8) Intermediate students learn about solar energy through investigations that explore radiant energy transforming into thermal energy, kinetic energy, chemical energy, and electricity. The kit includes a Teacher Guide, a class set of 30 Student Guides, and the materials necessary to conduct the activities. Student and Teacher guides are also available in PDF format as a FREE download. Many, many other wonderful energy resources (many of which are free of charge) can be accessed at the NEED site. |

WCSEN Member Benefits In appreciation for your membership in WCSEN, we can offer you the following services to help you identify ways to save energy in your home. These appliances are available for loan: - Find out which appliances are using the most electricity and are actually worth keeping plugged in. Simply connect an appliance to the Kill A Watt®, and it will assess the efficiency of the appliance. The LCD display will count consumption by the Kilowatt-hour, the same as your local utility. You can calculate your electrical expenses by the day, week, month, even an entire year. Also check the quality of your power by monitoring Voltage, Line Frequency, and Power Factor.
- Discover where in your home you are losing heat or cooling by using the FLUKE TiR1 thermal imager. This is a handheld imaging camera used for predictive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and verification. Thermal and visual images are displayed on the Imager LCD and can be saved to an SD Memory card, which can be transferred to a PC. Solar Pathfinder is the professional solar installer's tool for determining the most economical and efficient photovoltaic array location and position.
- The Solar Pathfinder PF-TC Analysis Tool with Case Tripod and Diagram Pk, makes targeting your photovoltaic electric system design easier and more powerful. If you are interested in any of these services, contact info@wcsen.org. Current membership required.
