The National Youth Settlement Framework (NYSF) training is here!
This unique national training was last offered in WA two years ago. Thanks to grant funding from Office of Multicultural Interests, MYAN WA has revitilised the training and is excited to bring it back to Perth with co-delivery from dynamic migrant and refugee youth people. During this one-day event, you will discuss and explore a range of topics related to active citizenship and learn about practical resources and strategies to promote effective engagement with migrant and refugee young people. We are offering the training in two locations, Leederville and Butler, and will likely run another one South of the River later in the year. The first two sessions are a pilot, and as such, we are offering a highly subsided ticket price. Click the register buttons below for more information about the training.

Inquiry on Social Services Legislation Amendment

MYAN Australia's recently wrote a submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee for the Social Services Legislation Amendment (Encouraging Self-sufficiency for Newly Arrived Migrants) Bill 2018. The Bill foresees an increase in waiting periods for access to social security benefits to three years from the current two year waiting period for newly arrived residents (with a non-humanitarian visa), while introducing waiting periods for other benefits, such as the Family Tax Benefit. MYAN Australia recommended to lift any waiting periods for young people who need support and assistance following arrival, specifically young people with Orphan visa (subclass 117) and remaining relative visa (subclass 115).
