"But the one thing we need more than hope is action. Once we start to act, hope is everywhere. So instead of looking for hope, look for action. Then, and only then, hope will come." --Greta Thunberg |

The Georgia legislative session is short, a maximum of 40 days, and environmental issues often get pushed to the bottom of the priority list. As Georgia citizens, we can sit back and hope that important issues get addressed, or we can take a few minutes to raise our voices to help create momentum for action. Please take 5-10 minutes to act NOW on these two issues: 1.The Okefenokee swamp is being threatened by mining operations. It is one of the greatest remaining natural treasures in the world and holds significant ecological, economic and cultural value for the people of Georgia. The site below makes it easy to contact 3 decision makers at once. |

2. Gas leaf blowers have many detrimental impacts. Unfortunately, a bill has been introduced that would bar local governments from limiting their use. It has already passed the Senate and is being considered in the House. Contact Richard Smith, Chair of the House Rules Committee, at richard.smith@house.ga.gov or 404-656-5141. Ask him to vote NO on SB-145. Note: If the noise and air pollution of gas blowers is a major concern for you, you can magnify your impact by contacting more of the members of the House Rules Committee.
