Hi all, There are two street food festivals this weekend - the Colombo Street Food Festival is back behind the Old Dutch Hospital and the Food Master Festival is on at Marine Drive. One has great bands; the other hasn't announced the bands yet, but they have music, dancing and a long bar. So, if you can't decide, go to both. What else is on? Well, there's lots of comedy this weekend, even more open mics and some theatre, art and some great live music and DJ events. We also found a new Indian restaurant and some new happy hours. As always, events are being announced all the time - several Wednesday events were only announced this morning - and any new findings will of course be added to www.HappeningColombo.com so do drop in from time to time to check. |

Other Events Some say that the best way to end the week is with a good laugh. If that's you then you're in luck as there are two comedy nights: on Friday, Ha Ha Lanka presents "Post Pay Stress Day 2", with seven stand-up comedians at Hatch Auditorium, starting at 7.00pm. Then on Saturday, "Unhealthy" with four stand-up comedians and, well, unhealthy comedy? That's at The Warehouse at 7.00pm. And there's more comedy, this time in the form of a play, "12 Incompetent Jurors", about twelve angry people, each with their own issues, on a jury together. Check out the trailer, it sounds like a laugh. It's on at the Wendt Theatre for three nights, 24, 25 & 26 February at 7pm. There's a new art exhibition opening on Thursday: "The Horizon of Love" features art by Yuwantha Yasas and will be on display at Paradise Road Galleries starting with an exclusive preview on Thursday 23 February from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, then until 16 March. For the performers there are five, yes five open mics this weekend but unfortunately two are on one day and three on another, but you can still manage two of them! On Friday, it's open mic with Avi at Food Studio at 6.30pm followed by beer pong and there is open mic with House of Grace at SkyYard, the Hotel MaRadha, at 7pm. Then on Sunday there's another open mic with House of Grace at Taco Shack at 6pm. Then also on Sunday there's open mic with Purple Cola at Bro Pub, sing a song and get a beer, from 7pm. Last but not least, "Heart-break Hotel" at Pink Salt at 7pm - breakup songs only, so probably not the one to pick if you are in a new relationship and it's going great! Events get added daily so check back in a few days, there will be something new! | | |
