How are you kind to your mind? "Self-care" has a lot of different definitions, but I've found it's more about consistently doing things that help your mind and body feel its best. I would suggest making a list of 5 things that make you feel your best. It could be things like making your bed in the morning, meditating, going on hikes, putting down your phone, saying affirmations, or eating a nourishing meal. While simple, these things show your mind kindness and lead to more confidence and optimal overall health, aka wellness! Be patient, compassionate, and loving to yourself--you're worth it. Simple, Nutritious, and Delicious I recently attended a webinar on the benefits of home cooking. Since everyone has been eating at home more over the past few months, I wanted to share some of the benefits of cooking and eating at home. Not only can it help lower BMI and improve overall nutrition, studies showed it helped people feel happier and less anxious or depressed. It also gives a chance for modeling positive behavior to kids. Now if we're going to eat at home, we want it to taste good, but still be efficient. When I cook, I aim for it to be simple, nutritious, and delicious. The link below is to a recipe that I feel accomplishes just that. Be creative and add what sounds good! I paired this with some lemon asparagus and a sweet potato. Chimichurri Chicken |

Hike Highlight This month's hike is located by Lake Quinault near Olympic National Forest in Washington. The hike starts at the Quinault Rain Forest Trailhead and is perfect for trail running or a leisurely walk; either way you'll get some stunning views. The lush temperate rain forest makes you feel like you've transported to another world. You can also take the path near the lake and get breathtaking sights of the serene Lake Quinault. 10/10 would recommend! Went on a hike that you loved? Email me with a photo and your experience of the hike and I will feature it next month. |
