This fall, I will be leading a 14-week online adult general education (AGE) literacy course, Introduction to Teaching Adult Literacy with IPDAE (Institute for the Professional Development of Adult Educators).
The course is designed to provide teachers in adult education settings with a foundation in applying research-based methods and strategies to the teaching of English literacy across all proficiency levels. The course focuses on the teaching of reading and writing as well as leveraging and developing other language and literacy skills to help students accomplish their life, academic, and professional goals.
In the webinar recording below, I present how the course motivates an informed and reflective teaching practice for teachers to effectively support themselves, their colleagues, and their adult literacy learners. Additionally, the webinar highlights examples of how the course cultivates a community of professional development and teaching practice, allowing teachers to learn from and support each other.
