Here are some concrete steps to grow our faith:
1- We must first be aware of our current level of faith.
Romans 12:3 "… be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.” Jesus spoke about three levels of faith. He mentioned hidden faith ("Where is your faith?"), the little faith of His disciples (“Oh ye of little faith”), and the great faith of the Syrophoenician woman, who had a sick daughter at home (“Woman, you have great faith!”). We need to be honest and ask ourselves: Is my faith flourishing, stagnant, or shrinking?
2- We must use the faith we already have.
Bishop Samuel Patta of India said, “In the Kingdom of God, everything increases by use.” In Luke 17 we read where Jesus taught His disciples about faith. He said someone with “mustard seed faith” could say to a mountain to move and it would be done. His instruction was to use the little faith they already had.
3- We must feed our faith.
Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the [rhema] Good News about Christ.” Something I have started doing in the morning, even before my devotions, is to listen to a message (sermon) of faith. It has been encouraging to me and has strengthened my faith. (To be continued in the next newsletter.)
