Season Greetings To You All And A Happy New Year
What a year!
February
We started with Woven Threads Series One - Stories from Afar (refugee stories) becoming a permanent display at the Powerhouse Museum and celebrated with a great evening.
March
We were also busily building support for Woven Threads Series Two - Stories from Within (mental health stories) when Covid hit our shores. We knew when we started working on this series that it was an important topic to talk about, but given the pressure people have been under in the past ten months it is paramount that mental health is at the forefront of our minds and discussion.
June
NSW Government via Bronnie Taylor's office provided support for an incredible episode in series two on Jett, a young man navigating his way through childhood and adolescence after extreme bullying, depression and finally an eating disorder.
August
The "Olive" episode received two International Impact Doc Awards. "To see more click here"
October
Saw the release of the first three episodes of Woven Threads Series Two - Stories from Within on Pedestrian TV (Olive, Peter & Jett). "To see them click here"
November
Woven Threads Productions celebrated its first birthday, a very exciting milestone and the screening of a shortened version of "Olive" at the Disney open air cinema in Sydney and Melbourne. Jihad Dib, MP attended the Sydney screening there are still opportunities to attend the Melbourne screenings.
"Olive" screened at the International Chicago Children's Film Festival
December
To finish the year off we interviewed the amazing Emma, who is a Peer worker and mental health trainer. For those of you that aren't aware, Peer workers are people with lived experience working in the mental health space. We were so pleased that Emma decided to share her story with us, so we could share it with you. Watch this space to to see Emma's episode launch in 2021!
