Point to Ponder Dear SBM Friend, For years, the face of our Nation’s first president, George Washington, could be found on a United States quarter piece worth $0.25. Embossed on every quarter is the notable phrase, “In God We Trust.” This has often been used as our Nation’s unanimous belief of our inadequacy without God, in addition to our dependence upon God Almighty to be our guiding light, source of strength, and eternal hope. The U.S. Mint, for the year of 2022, is issuing a change to the iconic $0.25 piece of which we are accustomed. This change partially involves the repositioning of President Washington’s head, in addition to including women on the flip side of the coin. Washington’s head has always been embossed as facing to the left, toward the phrase “In God We Trust.” Now, in 2022’s edition, Washington’s head will be facing the right, turning away from the phrase “In God We Trust.” The symbolism of this minor change is both startling and significant. Our nation is representative of what the U.S. Mint has issued on all new quarters: we’ve turned our backs on trusting in the Lord in an effort to trust in ourselves. Pushing God out of the inner workings of our society, the very same God which our Nation was founded upon, is visibly absent on documents, in schools, and in public buildings. In a spirit of inclusiveness, yet disobedience, we have cast aside any form of self-sacrifice, submission, obedience, or surrender to supposedly “reach the culture”, yet, unfortunately, we have become almost unidentifiable from the same lost culture which we were attempting to reach initially. A social gospel has replaced the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Political leaders have been deemed as gods in their own right, seeking to control every aspect of the human life under their lordship. And, in efforts to be inclusive, we have remained continuously disobedient to God’s will, purpose, and direction. I often hear the phrase “we need revival” or “praying for revival.” However, we equate revival with the need for those in our nation to be saved, for our churches to be full, and for the installment of godly values in our political systems. However, although we need renewal and revival, this is essentially for those who are saved. I do believe the Lord can revive our nation; however, it is difficult to revive individuals who were never alive to begin with. The Bible instructs us “for the wages of sin is death,” and that “we are dead in our trespasses.” It also alludes to the Son of God bringing new life. Our prayer must not be exclusive to the subject of revival, but rather diverse in praying for the salvation/regeneration of those who need to become living. Oh, how my prayer is for our churches to experience revival, Christians to experience renewal, and the lost to experience regeneration. May we each unite in this prayer as we seek to reach the world for Jesus Christ. That is this month’s point to ponder. |

News I am preparing to attend the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention June 12th-15th in Anaheim, California as a messenger from my home church of Mt. Zion in Hartselle. Our convention is amid turbulent times, and it is in a time such as this where Southern Baptists must be in sincere, fervent prayer as we seek the Lord’s will for us individually, as churches, and collectively as a convention. Pray for this to be a successful trip. Thankfully, doors continue to open for me to preach in different churches, many of them being evangelistic in nature. Travelling has become increasingly difficult due to skyrocketing gasoline prices. For those of us who depend upon these natural resources to fulfill our callings and occupations, the present economy has become a hinderance. However, God is faithful to provide! Our “God’s Minute” daily video devotional ministry continues to reach many with the Good News of Christ. So far, we have reached approximately 29,400 people with the Gospel since February! These daily devotionals can be found on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and through our website at www.spencerbellministries.org. Things to pray for: - For our ministry to remain fully funded.
- That God would open doors for our ministry in the future.
- That God might use our daily devotionals to reach the lost for Christ.
- For repentance, regeneration, renewal, and revival to break out across our land.
- Pray for our Southern Baptist Convention and the upcoming annual meeting in Anaheim.
I continue to receive financial contributions, and no words can express how grateful I am for your continued financial support. Because of you, I am granted the ability to continue in this ministry. I am considered full time, and this is my only source of income. Thank you for your support! If you are not currently a contributor, would you pray about partnering with us? Whether it be one time, occasionally, or monthly, your donation is a great blessing to our ministry. Please note that we are a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Charitable Organization, therefore any contribution made to our ministry is entirely tax-deductible! Finally, as always, I am thankful for you! It is my sincere hope and prayer that you would continue to grow closer to Him as you strive to serve King Jesus! May this month of June be one of great blessing. Serving Jesus with you, Spencer Bell President & Evangelist, SBM |

“Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?” Ezekiel 33:11 |

“We are suffering today from a species of Christianity as dry as dust, as cold as ice, as pale as a corpse, and as dead as King Tut. We are suffering not from a lack of correct heads but of consumed hearts.” -Vance Havner |
