My name is Alyssa and I am a new volunteer to the Women's Enrichment Center. I recently moved to Dalton, Ga with my husband for him to attend Summit Training Center. I discovered the Women's Enrichment Center while on a trip to visit his school.
I was so excited to see an organization focused on meeting the needs of families in such special ways.
I recently graduated from college with a degree in psychology and human services. I volunteered throughout high school with a crisis teen pregnancy home. I worked with the W.I.C program and as a lactation counselor in south Georgia. I love families and I believe in helping them get the best start possible.
So far, as a volunteer, I've been able to apply my knowledge and experience to help mothers in our "Earn While You Learn" classes. I've been able to retrace my steps and evaluate the ones that lead up to me being at the Women's Enrichment Center. I am so humbled by God's terrific planning.
I randomly received the opportunity to be credentialed as a lactation counselor back in 2017. At that point in time, it didn't make sense for my job or life, but I did it. Now, if a mother asks a question or requests more information on breastfeeding issues I have experience and knowledge to help them. I have been able to use the resource acquisition skills I learned in college to point mothers to other community resources as well. God had a plan for me to serve at the Women's Enrichment Center before I even had knowledge of it existing. I am so thankful that the Women's Enrichment Center exists.
