January was the month where many families make
the decision to separate.
February can be the month where the emotions around separation can run very high. The need for an “Emotional Filing Cabinet” while going through this major life transition can be key to making "wise and lasting decisions" in moving forward. I do hope this article of mine will help you on your journey.
I am always here to offer emotional support and guidance,
along with the logistical help.

THIS LAWYER SAYS THERE'S A BETTER WAY TO PROTECT VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
CBC Radio
2.22.19
Being a victim of Domestic Violence can be very difficult to understand and admit to. Understanding that Domestic Violence can be a refrigerator door was (purposely) opened by your spouse in a manner that hit your shoulder. Understanding that someone that says they "love you" can physically hurt you. Understanding how you can actually leave this kind of a relationship if you are financially dependant or how could actually be in this type of relationship if you consider yourself a strong, independent person.
In my Initial Intake I always screen for Emotional and Physical Abuse. Many times, clients are not even truly aware of the abuse or it can feel so shameful that they are not yet ready to admit it to themselves.
My training in Domestic Violence Screening has given me the skills to hear the glimpses. And then from there support the unique needs of each individual in how to move forward into a safe and healthy home for
them and their children.
I was so very happy to hear this CBC podcast last week.
For yourself or for anyone you know who may be in this type of relationship, please take the 20 minutes it runs to give it a listening to. It may be 20 minutes that can change a life.
