Salado Montessori

End of the Week Update

Another wonderful week has flown by here in our sweet little learning environment!  Highlights of the week included lots of hammering, birdwatching, cursive, and vocabulary work.  And, we have been cruising closer to a normalized classroom.

The kids have also been doing some great work with our Metal Insets and the Chalk Board.  The metal insets develop control of movement, lightness of touch with pencil & paper and are an indirect preparation for geometry work.

Observations Next Week

Parents, it's time for you to come observe your little ones in action!  If you have not already confirmed your time with Ms. Webb, please do so ASAP.

Also, please remember that school will be closed on Monday, April 23 for Parent Conferences.  Childcare will be provided during the conferences.

Wet Clothes

Now that our kiddos have free access to the outside work, we have been getting WET!  Parents, please provide two full sets of clothes in your for you little workers, including socks and shoes.  This will allow them to garden to their hearts' content, soak themselves to the bone, and then return to their indoor work dry and happy.

The Mill Creek Community Association, Mill Creek Country Club & Salado Creek Living have generously invited all of us to attend their upcoming Neighbors Night Out!   There will be food trucks (The Potato Wagon & Hecho En Queso), a bounce house, and The Chameleon Brass Band (a fantastic ensemble from Ft. Hood).

We'd love to enjoy the evening with you!

As we mentioned, our kiddos have started to put the chalkboard to good use.  Many of you surely used a chalkboard as a child.  It seemed to be a great tool then, and it still is!  Our younger ones have begun with sweeping motions, making loops and curves while the older students are beginning to practice their cursive.  In order to practice, they take a sandpaper letter to the board, trace the sandpaper with their finger, and then write it on the chalkboard.  What a fun way to learn to write!

We also have begun using the small chalkboards for table work.  Click below to watch the progress one of our oldest learners has been making.

THANK YOU, TIM!

One of our parents made this beautiful dressing frame stand for us.  It's the perfect addition to our workspace, and beyond anything we imagined!

Thank you so, so much.

Open House Success & Enrollment

Our Open House was a HUGE success!  Thank you to everyone who attended.   It was such a pleasure to answer all your questions and let your little ones try our learning materials.

If you intend to enroll, please submit your paperwork asap!  Space is limited and filling up fast.  Thank you!

SPONSOR RECOGNITION

As a non-profit, Salado Montessori relies on the generosity of our families and community to successfully maintain operations.  We are very excited to share that we have operated in the black since opening day (WooHoo!) and have done so because of the ongoing support of our donors.

Monthly contributions to the school help us tremendously, and we'd like to lovingly thank Jeff & Vicki Joy McClure for their continued support.  Jeff & Vicki Joy have been strong advocates and champions of Salado Montessori since it's inception.   Thank you so much from the kiddos, the staff, Alissa, Iona & Jake.   We love you!

Thank you all for being part of our community.  We are so grateful to be part of something that is both improving families and children each day while also making the future world better.

Enjoy your weekend!
