Buzzing about the Buzzway!
Our Rogue Buzzway Project is mapping pollinator-friendly places
so we can identify the pollinator corridors that run through the Valley -
safe havens for butterflies, bumble bees, native bees, honey bees,
beetles, moths, hummingbirds, and other insects - and almost more importantly,
the places lacking good pollinator habitat.
Pollinator habitat = pollinators = food production
We are thrilled to bee working with Dr. Jamie Trammell and his
GIS (Geographical Information Systems) class at SOU for this project.
Thank you to the students, the brochure designer (Robin White McKenzie),
the artist (Judy Grillo), the printer (Southern Oregon Printing),
and especially the grantor (The Pollination Project)!
Please see brochure and picture below.

oh no! Mosquito Season Soon
Are you on the Mosquito No-Spray List?
This is an important way to help insure your property stays pesticide-free!
Please advise Jackson County Vector Control District that
you do not want bee-killing and endocrine hormone disrupting insecticides
sprayed where you live and play.
Note that you will need to renew annually.

Ask Before You Purchase
If you've been reading our newsletter for awhile, you know one of
our hot buttons is the fact that plants treated with neonicotinoids
are still sold in garden centers to people unaware of the dangers these systemic pesticides pose to bees, butterflies, other insects, as well as birds, fish and soil life.
Neonics have a long residual in the plant tissue and will migrate into the
surrounding soil. Thank goodness there are places to purchase plants
that have not been treated with neonicotinoids.
Please see for our list of safe nurseries and seed growers in the Rogue Valley.
But always Ask Before You Purchase to make sure the plants you are
bringing home are neonicotinoid free.
If you know of additions for our list below, would you let us know?
Thank you!
