happy new years 2.0 last we left off we looked at the eleven card as the year card for 2018, albeit for many a Tarotist there is yet another year card, as most of us share the belief that there is a relationship between the any major arcana card that reduces down still to another card in the deck, which in this case would be the two card from eleven (11 > 1 + 1 = 2), and which is the Priestess, and of which again can be a crucial factor in relationship to your strength card for 2018. The traditional take on the Strength card is that our feminine aspect is able to “tame” our leonine energetic or excess and to better temper or measure our response, or something nearly of the such. For myself I prefer the concept of harnessing or holding this energetic or overflow of our lust for life, as don’t know ‘bout you, but have really been feeling a power surge of late and to start off the new year, and suspect it as perhaps key to be able to hold this gift and offering of an added power resource and availability, and…. this is where the Priestess might be of benefit to you. She is most all about the stillness, and as without the stilling of yourself, ‘tis most challenging to benefit from the rise and fall of your Ida and Pingala (nadis), to rustle those kundalini serpents that rest within your gluteus maximus/okole, and as to where they might rise and meet at your third eye and light that primordial fire thereupon our crown chakra, and so that we may receive of the strengthening, our most amazing grace. It takes a strong woman to be kind, to share of her warm smile and soft eyes, to know that wisdom is gentle in its application, and to own of her power and beauty with a most amazing grace. You are the conduit, you can do it. Hold sacred space. Move from scared to sacred. You are a!ive. In Surfer Tarot the two card is our Mother Ocean. She is short and sweet, and one of my fave cards in the deck. Hope you can find the time to read of her a coupla few times, maybe even out !oud. 😊 |

Mother Ocean * II A true surfer is in harmony with our Mother Ocean. She keeps us at emotional equilibrium. She keeps us detached from the “crashing waves of social constructs, bureaucracy, censure and dogma,” and we in turn hold her as sacrosanct, ocean mediums unto her collective unconscious. She holds us spellbound. She is Priestess of the Pond, Lady of the Lake and Woman of the Waters. Secrets ripple out from her. She is the unspoken truth, the uninterrupted flow of conscious from unconscious. She keeps us in silent dialogue with the arcane, and in touch with the teachings of antiquity. The ocean is our temple, our “liquid foundation.” In Mother Ocean we trust. Water is symbolic of the Way, the mother of all signs and symbols. Our Mother Ocean is symbolic of our relationship with the Divine. She doesn’t seek converts and there’s never a solicitation. She is without arrogance or affectation, and is sublime in repose. She can be calm and pacifying, but is not to be dictated to. She is sovereign unto herself. People once feared her for her unknown contents, but we now, as ocean peoples, have covenant with her to love and respect our Mother Ocean, in all her immensity immemorial. Her majesty is a shimmering jewel, adorned in the sparkle of unpretentious splendor. She offers clarity. She is purity in passive reflection. Our Mother Ocean is naturally healing. We consecrate her as crone and venerate her for her wisdom. But she is subtle, the quintessential “quiet woman.” She has hidden secrets and can be indifferent. She is self regulating, but in times of intemperance, will herself answer to excess and vanity. At times she’s capricious, even uncouth; and can be exacting in her wrath. She’ll leave you in love and in fear, in awe, and just disgusted; but through it all she is there for us, regardless. We are not separate from her nature. In the ocean, the surfer has found an emotional refuge, a reciprocal relationship of eternal and everlasting love. A reverence for something larger than oneself, is reflected in our attitude, and in our gratitude. Her unassuming tranquility teaches us a palpable peace. Her waters render negativities inert and we begin to get answers. Our patience is rewarded by an inward validation. We are becoming conscious. Her primordial stillness gives rise to the power of silence. “True being is found in silence.” From silence will come sensitivity and receptivity. |
