Scribbles by Shirley Everyone excited? We are anxiously awaiting more snow as Christmas approaches! Our resident poodle-ambassador, Lacey (pictured above), is dressed in red and ready for the holidays (and maybe a dog treat or two). There are so many fun events in our community in December. Be sure to check out Upcoming Events in this newsletter. Come join us for some great rural small town fun. Our family's main December event is hanging out at Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm, which is open for business 7 days per week until December 24. Some days you'll even find myself, Scott and the rest of our extended family working, serving up delicious food at the Claus Cafe, helping you find the perfect wreath or ornament, baling Christmas trees or directing traffic. So much fun to have the whole family involved. We had our first Ladies Night at Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm last week, where we offered free draws, hand massages and gift wrapping, and sampled yummy treats like maple taffy, maple spiced popcorn and homemade fudge. The ladies enjoyed some shopping in a relaxing, festive environment. Everyone enjoyed the joy of Christmas with two branches of our family tree. Don't miss out on our second annual event next November. We know that lists to Santa aren't always reliable. Ladies, we are thinking of having you make your Christmas wish list and then having a Men's Night, what do you think? Possibly you might get exactly what you wanted! We just had our annual staff Christmas party. Our regifting has become a contest of how odd, silly, ridiculous, useless, unusual, ugly a gift you can bring to share. We filled the Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm with gales of hysterical laughter as Team Awesome gathered recently to celebrate the season; we've even had a request from one of our older participants to provide Depends next year. Our entire family (17 direct descendents) is now welcoming a couple of 'come from away' boyfriends and it makes for a large and boisterous Christmas season. Fortunately we also plan for some downtime to build our energy reserves for our next crazy season at Fulton's starting in February. We need to follow the lead of our lovely maple trees, and rest in preparation for spring! Happy baking and cooking, with maple of course; consider checking out how to substitute maple syrup or maple sugar in your holiday baking. Merry Christmas and a Blessed Season to all! Sweet maple wishes to you, Shirley Fulton-Deugo 4th Generation Owner |
